Elisabeth Rohm: why she wanted THE WHOLE TRUTH

As I've mentioned, Elisabeth had done no comedy - and she's incredible as Angela in THE WHOLE TRUTH. After studying the classics (Twentieth Century, His Girl Friday, Ball of Fire, so many more) and the comedic performances of the greats: Carole Lombard, Rosiland Russell, Barbara Stanwyck, Lucille Ball and more, she developed her own classic character for which those women would give her (very) high fives!

I recently saw Barbara Stanwyck in Double Indemnity on TMC .. and I know/have seen her in Roustabout with Elvis Presley ... probably a number of other movies I can't think of off the top of my head ...but I can't recall the name of any comedy movie Barbara was in?

Lucille Ball ... classic goof ball comedy goodness!

Ball of Fire is probably her most well known screwball comedy (meaning the wacky leading lady, who thinks she knows it all, makes some bad choices - not endearing her to the audience - then pays for her choices for the rest of the film).

She did several - some historians report she was actually Frank Capra's favorite actress, probably because of her ability to switch from drama to comedy and everything in between.

Lady of Burlesque was a film in which she covered just about all the genres - plus SANG.

I interviewed a very famous British actor who told me he believes Stanwyck is America's best actress ever because of her formidable range.

The Lady Eve is another Stanwyck screwball comedy; Christmas in Connecticut is a popular comedy starring Ms. S, as is The Mad Miss Manton and Breakfast for Two.

Her filmography is rife with every genre and mixing genres that exist. Making more than 85 credited films (she did a little naughty side work not on the books - nothing like porn these days, she showed her slip, bra and panties! OH MY! ;-) and dozens of TV shows, she is a national acting treasure whose work does not get as much notice as she deserves.

Fortunately, TCM is a Stanwyck fan and features her great films regularly, as well as sells DVD's of her work.
